She turned forty and, almost overnight, none of her routine worked the same. She couldn’t find products built for this season — so she started building them, and Esther & Ruth grew from that work.

JoAnne Fontanini
Co-Founder
JoAnne Fontanini is a Chicago-born entrepreneur who grew up in her Italian family’s food business and went on to co-build a national food manufacturing company, which she and her brother sold in 2017. Having balanced business, single motherhood, and family, she now brings that experience to Esther and Ruth. Together with her business partner, Janice Taylor, their natural hair care line helps women feel beautiful and confident through perimenopause and beyond, with a portion of profits supporting local women’s charities.
