FAQ
A few answers to the questions we hear most. If you don't see yours, reach out through our Contact page — we're here for this season, too.
Getting started
Who is Esther & Ruth for?
We make hair care for the perimenopause season — for the women living through it, not around it. If your hair has started behaving differently and the usual products don't feel like they fit anymore, you're exactly who we built this for.
I'm not sure what I need. Where do I start?
Two easy ways in: Find Your Routine asks a few gentle questions and points you to a good place to begin, or Shop by Concern lets you start from what you're noticing most. If you'd like a thoughtful place to begin, The Founders Kit brings three core products together, with The Christina included free.
Do I have to use every product?
Not at all. The system is designed to work together, but you can begin with a single product and build from there. Start where it feels most useful.
The Founders Kit
What's in The Founders Kit?
Three core products: The Abigail (Coconut, Castor & Pumpkin Seed Hair Mask), The Sarah (Root Awakening Scalp Tonic), and The Lydia (Castor, Rosehip & Frankincense Face & Body Oil), with The Christina (Lightweight Hair Oil) included as a free gift. It's $144.
Why start with the kit instead of one product?
Perimenopausal hair changes in a few ways at once, so a small ritual that works together is an easy place to begin — but you're always welcome to start with a single product if you'd rather.
How soon will I see a difference?
Hair works on its own timeline. The earliest changes — less shedding, a better-feeling scalp — often show up around eight to twelve weeks. Changes in the appearance of fullness take longer, closer to six months, because that's simply how the hair growth cycle works. Consistency matters more than intensity.
Using the products
What order do I use them in?
The system follows four simple steps: Cleanse (The Hannah), Condition (The Kiki), Treat (The Sarah daily, The Elizabeth at night), and Support (The Naomi daily, plus The Miriam and The Deborah as needed). Each product's page has full how-to-use details.
Are the products sulfate-free? Safe for color-treated hair?
The Hannah is sulfate-free and formulated to cleanse without stripping, and the routine is designed to be gentle on color-treated and gray hair. The Miriam is especially mindful of gray and color-treated hair. Each product page lists its full ingredients.
Can I use these if I'm pregnant, nursing, or managing a health condition?
If you're pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition — especially before starting The Naomi supplement — please check with your healthcare provider first. We're not able to give medical advice.
Is The Naomi a medication?
No. The Naomi is a dietary supplement. This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Availability & the waitlist
Are products available to buy now?
We're opening in stages. The best way to be first to know when products are ready is to join the waitlist — for the whole collection or for the specific product you're waiting for.
What happens after I join the waitlist?
You'll be among the first to hear when what you're waiting for is available, along with occasional notes on hair and this season. No pressure, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
Do you offer subscriptions or refills?
A replenishment option is something we're planning for down the road. For now, you can reorder anytime — and the waitlist is the best way to hear when new options open up.
Shipping & returns
When will my order ship?
Shipping timelines and rates are shown at checkout. (Full shipping details are being finalized.)
What's your return policy?
We want you to feel good about your purchase. Our full return policy is being finalized — in the meantime, reach out through our Contact page with any order questions.
The Grace Field Fund
What is the Grace Field Fund?
It's our give-back program, providing direct, need-based grants to women starting over — help with back taxes, childcare or tuition, and emergency needs. It's a grant, not a loan: no interest, no repayment. Learn more about the Fund.
How does my purchase support it?
A portion of our profits supports the Grace Field Fund. Someone helped us through a hard season — now we help another woman start again.
